SECONDARY SCHOOL
In Grades 6 through 12 the A-Beka curriculum is also used, along with
materials from other publishers. There is an ongoing process of curriculum
evaluation and development to improve the education and learning that
takes place in each grade level.
Bible:
At every secondary grade level, Bible occupies a prominent place in the
curriculum. Bible materials have been selected on the basis of how well
they support our Statement of Faith, their academic presentation, and
their interest to each grade level. Students will be expected to commit
to memory significant portions of Scripture.
English,
Mathematics, Science, Computer, History, Foreign Language, Physical Education,
and elective courses are given a thorough explanation in our Curriculum
Guide, available through the Secondary school office.
Honors
classes are available to students with minimum GPA requirements and
teacher recommendations.
College
Credit courses are available to Junior and Senior class students.
Fine
Arts: Band, Choir, Drama, and Art departments all enhance the extracurricular
programs of the Academy. With high levels of student participation in
the arts, students excel in skill, proficiency, and performance.
Athletics:
Secondary students have a tremendous opportunity to participate in one
of the finest athletic programs in the Panhandle. There is a nominal athletic
fee charged for participation in each sport. A full weight-training gym
is available to all student athletes.
Girls'
sports include Middle School and Varsity volleyball, cross-country, basketball, softball,
track, golf and tennis. Boys' athletics include tackle football, cross-country,
basketball, track, baseball, golf, and tennis.
Students
must meet grade eligibility requirements to participate. A student
receiving
a grade below 70 or a citizenship
grade of "U" becomes ineligible
for a minimum of three weeks.
