MISSION STATEMENT[ back to top ]
San Jacinto Christian Academy exists to assist parents in training
young people to know and love Jesus Christ, to follow Him in life,
and to become positive, productive members of the coming generation.
ACCREDITATION [ back
to top ]
San Jacinto Christian Academy holds
membership in the Association of Christian Schools International
(ACSI). In 1991, the Academy was
accredited by meeting all of the requirements established by the Accrediting
Commission of ACSI. Re-Accreditation was granted in 1997 and 2004.
Accreditation is increasingly important in the complex world in which
we live. Our desire is to see the doors of opportunity swing open as
widely as possible for each student upon their graduation. This requires
that we continue to pursue the highest levels of accountability and
standards for excellence offered through accreditation.

DOCTRINAL
BELIEFS [ back
to top ]
San Jacinto Christian Academy, its Board of Directors, faculty, and staff
hold and subscribe to a strong fundamental, evangelical statement of
doctrine. The Academy was founded by a Baptist church and is governed
by a Board and Administration of Bible-believing leaders; even so, the
mission and focus of this institution is non-denominational. We believe
denominational beliefs and preferences ought to be taught at church and
in the home. The school will emphasize the traditional, fundamental,
and historic essentials of Christian belief and practice, while emphasizing
the need of a relationship with Christ and Christian growth.
NON-DISCRIMINATORY
POLICY [ back
to top ]
The Academy admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic
origin to all rights, privileges, programs and activities generally
accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not
discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin

programs, athletic opportunities, or other school-administered
programs.

A BRIEF HISTORY
OF SAN JACINTO CHRISTIAN [ back
to top ]
Sometime near the beginning of 1981, David C. Walker, then pastor
of San Jacinto Baptist Church, envisioned a Christian school ministry
with a balanced emphasis on both discipleship and intellectual
training. Men and women, teachers and parents, community leaders
and small children joined together as the dream gave birth to San
Jacinto Christian Academy. Classes were first held on September
2, 1982 for kindergarten through third grade.
Sarah Archer was the school's first principal. She charted a safe
and prosperous course as the foundation of the school was laid. Her
influence is still felt and appreciated today.
In 1991 the Academy received accreditation for Kindergarten through
Grade 12. It was that same year that the school graduated its first
senior class under the direction of principal Carl Swindell.
In September 1992, San Jacinto Christian became an independent Christian
school, with an autonomous, self-perpetuating board of trustees. Under
the leadership of the board and principal Clayton Hubbart, the current
facilities were purchased in November 1992. The stage was set; the
future of the Academy seemed limitless.
In July 1993, Michael R. Pinkston accepted the position of superintendent
at San Jacinto Christian with the goal of forging a new vision with
the board of trustees to take the Academy into the next century. Mr.
Pinkston brought to our school a passion for God and a drive for high
academic standards. He developed a dream that will continue to help
our school chart a new course into the future.
In July 1994, San Jacinto Christian was greatly blessed and further
strengthened by uniting with West Texas Christian School. Our future
seemed bright with the addition of Russ Reneau as secondary principal.
Students, their families, and some extremely dedicated teachers also
came from West Texas Christian School.
In the July 2001,
Wanda Shaeffer joined the administration team as the curriculum director/elementary
principal. Wanda initiated programs to advance curriculum, dyslexia
classes, Accelerated Reader, and many new traditions. There exists
great admiration and appreciation by Patriot families for her leadership.
Mike Fitzwater, M.Ed., picked up where Mrs. Shaeffer
left off. Through the years, we have continued
to grow a gifted and committed faculty who daily make the difference
in students’ lives.
In July 2004, Bill Rehrer became our second Superintendent at a time when the greatest opportunities lie before us. Bill brought a wealth of experience and depth entering his twenty-fifth year of ministry in education. He was committed to several key priorities, which included: (1) preparing students to be servant-leaders; (2) nurturing and developing teachers; (3) delivering world-view teaching in the classroom; and (4) building excellence in music, sports and other student activities. Bill Rehrer faithfully served San Jacinto Christian Academy for one year. Bill, his wife and his daughters were suddenly killed in an automobile accident on July 8, 2005.
LOOKING FORWARD [ back
to top ]
In February, 2006, Mark McKnight became our third Superintendent. Mark has a long history serving San Jacinto Christian as a board member and chairman of the board. Mark followed God's calling leaving the business workplace to lead San Jacinto Christian Academy. Mark is committed to maintaining the strong biblical foundation that our founders envisioned. Additionally, Mark will work to implement a bold vision including a major campus expansion project as well as an expanded academic program titled "Fearfully and Wonderfully Made."
In 23 years, San
Jacinto Christian has grown from one man's dream to a new vision
for this
new millennium. With strong leadership, support
from parents, and the blessing of God, San Jacinto promises to be one
place that will make the difference in young people's lives. In turn,
they will have the opportunity to make a difference in their generation.
The Scripture, "Eye has not seen, nor ear has not heard, neither
has it entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared
for them that love Him"
(1 Corinthians 2:9) is the promise of
God we are experiencing in these great days of blessings!
DOCTRINAL STATEMENT [ back
to top ]
1.
We believe the Bible to be the inspired,
infallible, authoritative, inerrant
Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter
1:21).
2. We believe there is one God, eternally
existent in three persons: Father,
Son and Holy Spirit (Genesis
1:1;Matthew 28:19;John 10:30).
3. We believe in
the deity of Christ (Matthew
3:17), His virgin birth (Isaiah
7:14; Matthew 1:23), His sinless
life (Hebrews 4:15; 7:26), His miracles (John 2:11),
His
vicarious and atoning death (1 Corinthians 15:3; Ephesians
1:7), His bodily resurrection (John 11:25; 1 Corinthians
15:4), His ascension to the right hand of the Father
(Mark 16:19), and His personal
return in power and glory (Acts
1:11; Revelation 19:11).
4. We believe in the absolute necessity of regeneration
by the Holy Spirit for salvation because of the exceeding
sinfulness of human nature, and that men are justified
on the single ground of faith in the shed blood of Christ.
Only by God's grace and through faith alone we are saved
(John 3:16-19; John 5:24; Romans 3:23; 5:8-9; Ephesians
2:8-10; Titus 3:5).
5. We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and
the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of
life, and they that are lost unto the resurrection of
punishment (John 5:28-29).
6. We believe that man was created by a direct act of
God in His image, not from previously existing life (Genesis
1:1,22,27; 1 Corinthians 11:7; James 3:9).
7. We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in
our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 8:9; 1 Corinthians 12:12-13;
Galatians 3:26-28).
8. We believe in the indwelling ministry of the Holy
Spirit by whose presence the Christian is enabled to
live a godly
life (Romans 8:13-14; I Corinthians 3:16; 1 Corinthians
6:19-20; Ephesians 4:30; 5:18).
PROFESSIONAL
AFFILIATION [ back
to top ]
San Jacinto Christian Academy is a member of Association of Christian
Schools International (ACSI). Member schools of ACSI make no distinction
concerning an individual's race or ethnic background because we
acknowledge there can be no preferential treatment with God (Romans
2:1). We are bound to extend our ministry to all we can reach,
and we are to carry out our Lord's Great Commission (Matthew 28:19).
ACSI, as an organization serving Christian schools, is dedicated
to the establishment, philosophy, and promotion of fundamental
Christian education around the world. It neither supports nor endorses
the World or National Council of Churches, or any world, national,
regional, or local organizations which give Christian recognition
to nonbelievers or advocate a multi- faith union.
PHILOSOPHY OF
EDUCATION [ back
to top ]
The ultimate
goal of San Jacinto Christian Academy is to assist parents in producing
young people to know and love Jesus Christ, to follow Him in life,
and to become positive, productive members of the coming generation.
This is accomplished by instruction in right thinking, good conduct,
and clean living in light of the principles of God's Word.
Education and training of students are based upon the God-centered,
Christian approach to education, rather than a man-centered humanistic
approach. We believe the Christian traditional system educates the
mind and builds character. It encourages competition, hard work, humility,
and the value of living under a free enterprise system of government.
Three of our central goals are:
1. To train up students to hide the Word of God in their hearts through
Bible study, memorization, and application (Psalm 119:11);
2. To prepare students mentally by promoting high academic standards,
good study skills, and the ability to think critically and evaluative
from a Christian perspective (I Timothy 4:12);
3. To build character by training students to obey, to do right, to
love God and country, and to always measure one's attitudes against
principles in the Bible "lest any man spoil through philosophy
and vain deceit" (Colossians 2:8).
4. To realize that all students are “fearfully and wonderfully
made and the God has a unique plan and destiny for their lives. (Psalm
139)
All of these goals work in harmony to train students to become obedient
to authority and the voice of God. Thus, when He places a calling upon
their lives, they will be both spiritually and academically prepared
to answer that call and ultimately become a useful instrument of the
Lord.
We believe the content of Christian education must
be in harmony with "whatsoever
things are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, and of good report" (Philippians
4:8). The classroom method should be teacher-directed (Deut. 6:7) with
the student acquiring knowledge through studying (2 Timothy 2:15),
researching (John 5:39), reasoning (Isaiah 1:18), relating (Luke 24:27),
and recording (3 John 12).
We believe the Scriptures give us the true view of God and man and
their relationship. The Scriptures tell us that God is an orderly personality
who created man and the universe and that He is the author of the order
and reason reflected in His creation. Therefore, the Christian traditional
system of education is rooted in teaching objective reality with absolutes,
as opposed to subjective relativism. Because of this, all instruction
is presented and interpreted in light of the precepts and prophecies
of the written Word of God.
PHILOSOPHY OF
CURRICULUM AND EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES [ back
to top ]
San Jacinto Christian Academy exists because of the belief
that all Christian parents should have the opportunity to give
their child a quality education based on the Word of God. The
school views itself as an extension of the Christian home.
SJCA teaches its students through a balanced curriculum in the academic,
social, physical, and spiritual areas. The curriculum encourages a
search for truth and knowledge that rests on the foundation of the
written Word of God. The Bible is integrated into all areas of curriculum,
which gives integrity and meaning to all subject areas. The Holy Spirit
makes the teacher's instruction meaningful, useful, and practical.
The goal of this approach is to produce students who possess a Christian
mind and who can stand independently in their generation for the Lord.
The student is encouraged to reach his fullest potential in every
area of life. The unique nature of each young person calls for us to
nurture his or her independent thinking and creative ability under
the Lordship of Christ. As a result, the student can become the kind
of leader and servant who will carry a commitment to Christ and kingdom
principles to the world.

STANDARDIZED
TEST SCORES [ back
to top ]
San Jacinto Christian Academy students verify the levels of academic
excellence taking place in the classroom through annual results
on the Stanford Achievement Test (SAT). Although standardized test
scores only measure
one aspect of a student’s progress, these results help the school
evaluate school-wide academic programs. Our efforts will continue in
this pursuit for academic excellence for the students of the Academy.
